I wear makeup most days. Whether it be a tinted moisturizer and some lip balm before running errands on a Saturday or a full face of products before date night, it's safe to say that I wear makeup on the reg.

Not only do I wear makeup often, but I've been wearing it for 10+ years. That's a whole lot of products my skin has absorbed over the years.

But, my makeup routine looks a lot different now than it did 6 months ago.

After becoming a Beautycounter consultant, I began to research some of the products I had used on my skin for years. What I found shocked me.

And these are just some of the words and phrases linked to the ingredients in my makeup. This list doesn't even include what I found out about my old laundry detergent, hairspray, shampoos, body lotions, etc.

Now, I'm not writing this blog to reveal what I used to purchase or to bash other companies. That's not what Beautycounter is about, and that's not what I'm about.

I'm here to tell you about what I'm using now.

After I uncurled myself from the fetal position, it became my goal to completely switch my makeup products to safer.

I started with my foundation and blush, which happened to be the most harmful, and kept switching from there. As I ran out of products, I began to replace them with Beautycounter.

As of 5 months ago, I have a completely new makeup routine and I'm absolutely in love with it.

Don't worry, I'll share.

Here's what's currently in my makeup bag:

Of course, I do not use all of these products every day. My everyday go-to is: foundation, concealer, blusher, eye shadow and mascara.

But, I truly enjoy putting on my makeup each morning because I know that I'm choosing safer ingredients for my skin. I feel like I'm doing my skin a favor by using these products. And, not only that, but I'm using less and it still lasts me all day. My Beautycounter makeup was truly an investment in my health.

What is your makeup routine?
What safer makeup have you found that you love?

Maybe you haven't found any yet, but you're interested in switching to safer! Shoot me a message, let's chat!

Beautycounter products are unlike any other.

They are completely safe and healthy for your skin.
They perform well.
And, they represent something greater: striving to increase the laws regarding skincare regulation in the U.S. in order to get safer products into the hands of everyone.

Since I became a consultant (read about my journey), I have many of these great products at my house and have had fun testing and trying them out. Last week I wrote about the 10 Things I Love About Beautycounter. And, based on the products I've tried, I wanted to put together another list – a list of my current must-have products!

Many of you know that this was my first introduction to Beautycounter. And, I fell head-over-heels for this little black bar. It makes my face feel squeaky clean at the end of the day. I love that it detoxifies your skin without making you dry. And, the bar really goes a long way!

How To Use: Work soap into a lather with water, gently massage onto face and body, and rinse thoroughly.

I could not wait to get my hands on this BEST SELLING product! It melts into your skin to brighten and hydrate! And it has so many uses: eye makeup remover, overnight mask, cleanser, spot treatment for dry skin... and the list goes on!

How To Use: Use nightly. In light, circular motions, massage an almond-sized amount into skin, applying gentle pressure to cheeks, forehead, and eyebrows. Dampen cleansing cloth in hand-hot water to gently wipe off balm. Rinse skin thoroughly with cool water.

This was another one on my wish list for a while – especially when I heard that it wasn't just a mask, but a spot treatment for acne as well!

The mineral-rich mix of charcoal and kaolin clay gently exfoliates, draws out the impurities and soothes your skin. It also refines your pores and increases the skin's elasticity – what more do you need?

The Purifying Charcoal Mask pairs really well with the Charcoal Cleansing Bar for a deep clean!

How To Use: Apply a generous layer to clean skin. Let dry for 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Use 1-2 times per week, and as an overnight spot treatment.

I was hesitant to try our face oils at first because of the word "oil" in the title. As someone who has combination/oily skin, I wasn't a fan of adding oil to my face.

However, I learned that our face oils are purely plant-based, which allows our skin to absorb for healthy hydration, as opposed to synthetic or petroleum-based oils, which sit on the skin and clog your pores.

The Balancing Face Oil contains ylang ylang and wild chamomile, which together providing balance to combination skin.

How To Use: Press three to four drops of oil into skin with fingertips and use it in place of moisturizer, or add a couple of drops to your favorite moisturizer to make it extra hydrating.

I love a good lotion, so when I tried this product from Beautycounter, of course I fell in love!

It is deeply hydrating and the Citrus Mimosa scent is not overwhelming at all! I love to use this when I get out of the shower, sometimes paired with the Body Oil in Citrus Rosemary.

This lotion is lightweight, nourishing and rich in antioxidants! The ingredients that keep you moisturized all day long are marula, mongongo, safflower seed oils, and shea and jojoba butters.

How To Use: Massage into clean, damp skin. Use morning and night, or as needed.

When I was doing research on some of my more harmful products, the liquid foundation I was using happened to be at the top of the list. I decided that this was one of the products I needed to switch to safer quickly. And, I could not be happier! I don't even feel like I have makeup on when I'm wearing it!

This foundation is lightweight, hydrating and provides a seamless coverage. It comes in 8 shades – I personally use Linen.

How To Use: Use with our Retractable Foundation Brush for easy, even coverage. Squeeze a dime-size amount of Tint Skin into palm of hand. Dip and swirl brush. Apply to center of face with a light dabbing motion, then blend outward in light even strokes. For additional coverage, layer with a flat-head foundation brush.

I couldn't wait to add this to my makeup bag!

My absolute favorite thing about the Cream Blusher is that it can be used on cheeks AND lips. It's a great way to complete your look, whether you're going natural or bold!

It comes in three shades: Umber, Caramel and Hibiscus – which is the shade that I use and LOVE!

How To Use: Blend evenly onto cheeks for a natural-looking glow. Layer for bolder color.

8. BODY WASH (Citrus Mimosa)

This is one of my favorite products for many reasons.

First off, it is so amazing to know that what you're washing your body with is not only 100% safe, but also really healthy for your skin to absorb!

Secondly, I use it three different ways! I use it (1) as body wash, (2) for bubble baths, and (3) to shave my legs!

It's extremely gentle and doesn't leave your skin feeling dry! It is rich in marula and mongongo oils, which are ingredients  that help soften and protect your skin while sealing in moisture.

How To Use: Massage a small amount onto wet skin, work into a rich lather, and rinse. Perfect for all skin types.

Many may wonder, "Is using a healthy mascara that important? It's not like it's on your skin..."

However, your mascara most certainly does get in your eye and on your skin throughout the day, especially when you're removing it. And many mascaras out there have very harmful ingredients – so, it's very important to make sure you're using a safe mascara!

Our award-winning mascara lengthens and conditions your eyelashes all day long.

How To Use: Remove wand from mascara bottle and wipe excess product from the brush. Comb product through from the base of your lashes to the tips. Build length with additional coats.

10. LIP CONDITIONER (Peppermint)

I love putting on this soothing and softening product throughout my day!

The Lip Conditioner also comes in Calendula, which is a light citrus scent. The calendula and chamomile oils act as anti-inflammatories to help heal chapped lips.

How To Use: Rub a small amount onto lips. Use daily as needed.

Well, there you have it–my 10 must-have Beautycounter products, at least for today.

I truly have enjoyed each and every product I've tried, but these are definitely my current top favs! As I try more products and as Beautycounter releases more products, I know that my list will change, as well as my skin. But, I know one thing will definitely not change... my love for these products and my passion for what this business is doing!

I can't believe that it has been an entire month since I decided to join the #BetterBeauty movement and become a Beautycounter Consultant. This month has been many things: exciting, educational, nerve-wracking, fun (just to name a few).

But seriously, y'all. I am having a blast!

For those of you who know me, you know that I am a list-maker. Big time. I make lists of my favorite things, groceries I need to get, recipes I want to try, places I am dying to visit, books I want to read. And the list goes on... literally.

So, I came up with a list of 10 things I love about being a Beautycounter Consultant (in no particular order) that I wanted to share.

  1. The mission. Beautycounter's mission is to get safer products into the hands of everyone. This fuels everything BC is about; it drives everything the team does. As a consultant, I have adopted this mission and enjoy living it out!

  2. The branding. From the logo to the packaging. From the presentation to the website. From the online presence to the marketing. It's clean. It's simple. It's beautiful.

  3. The products. I can seriously say that I have loved everything I've tried. Not only are these products beautiful and completely healthy for your skin, but they perform well. When Gregg Renfrew began Beautycounter, she had a desire for the products to be safe, but she knew they had to do what they were supposed to do. Gregg hired celebrity makeup artist, Christy Coleman to test the products to ensure that they perform excellently.

  4. The team. I love my team members! It is so fun to get to know people all over the country that share your same mission. We all help each other, encourage each other and give each other advice. It's such a fun community to be connected with.

  5. The resources. Upon becoming a consultant, you're given access to hundreds and hundreds of resources to help you with your business. This includes things like: makeup tutorials, editable invitations, product fliers, videos about how to host socials, etc. It is truly amazing how well they set you up for success!

  6. The education. Beautycounter was founded on education. Part of its mission (getting safer products into the hands of everyone) involves educating others and teaching them about the importance of choosing safer and healthier products for their skin. I have totally been a sponge this month. I learn something new every day, and I have a feeling that won't stop.

  7. The socials. If you know me, you know I love to plan events. So, it's no surprise that I love this part of the job, whether I am hosting or not. It is so, so fun to come together, visit, try out products, eat some snacks and to talk about this amazing company and how its turned into an incredible movement.

  8. The people I've met and will meet. I have come into contact with so many incredible people since I became a consultant. Whether through social media, through being on the same sales team, or through a social event, I have enjoyed meeting new friends. I love how this company brings people together.

  9. The "thank you" texts. It is so fun and rewarding to help people find the products that work well for their skin. My favorite thing (ever) is to get messages and emails from clients who are LOVING their products. I also love helping people make the choice to switch to safer and healthier products. It is the best feeling!

  10. The income. There were many factors that played into me choosing to join Beautycounter as a consultant. One of which was to help out with my husband and I trying to pay off some student loans this year. I am so thankful that my sweet cousin presented me with this opportunity to do so, because it is way too much fun!

The bottom line is that I could never have chosen to become a consultant if I didn't believe in the products and the mission. That's where it started for me.

My heart skips a beat for this company and what it is doing to try to pass laws and raise awareness to increase regulation in our personal care products. I just love that I can play a part in it.

So, there you have it. That's my list of 10 things I love about Beautycounter. Although, I feel like this list could also be called, "10 Reasons to #TakeTheJob."
