Bridal showers are so lovely. Whether you are a guest, the bride, a host or the mother-of-the-bride... there is fun for everyone involved.

If you are on the hosting/planning side of a bridal shower, you might feel a bit overwhelmed. Where do you begin? There are so many details that make up a bridal shower: date, time, decor, food, beverages, flowers, games, gifts. And the list goes on.

Before worrying about all the details, there's one that, when decided, can help some of the others fall into place.

The theme

If you select a theme that fits the bride and the shower you're envisioning, many of the other aspects of the shower can be planned more easily. Choosing a theme might spark an idea for food, decorations, floral arrangements, etc.

Stuck on a theme? Here are 3 unique bridal shower ideas that will make you swoon!

I have personally been involved in the planning of a Bridal Breakfast shower and it was so much fun! Here a just a few ideas to get you started!

  • Pancake Bar – Your guests will love creating their own stack of pancakes at the buffet line filled with delicious toppings: butter, powdered sugar, syrups, honey, blueberries, chocolate chips, strawberries, and bananas. Don't forget the whipped cream!

  • Mini Muffins – Maple & Bacon is a yummy, unique flavor and was a huge hit at our party. You also can't go wrong with the classic Poppyseed or Chocolate Chip. They have great mini muffin recipes on Pinterest!

  • Breakfast Casserole – It's a good idea to balance out the sweet and the savory. The great thing about a breakfast casserole is that there are so many ways to make it!

  • Coffee Station – This is a must! Dress it up with a sign that says "Love is Brewing." This will be the hot spot (no pun intended) of the party as it is a breakfast shower, people will want their morning cup of coffee!

  • Have fun decorating with aprons, pots and pans, cooking utensils, etc. Put an apron on a mannequin, arrange flowers in pots and pans, hang a set of wooden spoons above the table for decoration. Get creative!

  • Want the bride to remember who came to her party? Set up a table with a breakfast cookbook and pens so that guests can sign it when they arrive at the shower.

  • Hand out recipe cards and clothespins as people are mingling and have the guests write down their favorite breakfast recipe. Hang a strand of twine or ribbon that they can pin their recipe cards on when they're finished. This is helpful to the bride and adds to your decor.

Who doesn't love a good picnic? And who said bridal showers had to be formal? I love this idea because it is incredibly customizable. You can do so many different things with this theme.

  • Finger Sandwiches – Set out trays of a variety of classic sandwiches (peanut butter + jelly, BLT, cucumber, turkey + swiss).

  • Hummus – There are so many delicious flavors of hummus to put out and don't even get me started on all that you can use to dip: pretzels, carrots, cucumbers, pita chips, bell peppers, bagel chips...this will be a favorite for sure!

  • Fruits + Veggies – A veggie and fruit tray is the perfect simple addition to the picnic spread. Greek yogurt veggie dip and Cool Whip is a must!

  • Chocolate Chip Cookies – You can't go wrong with classic chocolate chip cookies for a sweet picnic treat.

  • Fresh lemonade – There's nothing better at a picnic than a fresh glass of lemonade. You could have several flavors to offer variety and add color!

  • Blankets, blankets, blankets! Bring out all the fun-colored, large, patterned blankets you and your friends can find. It will make for great pictures. You can set the food out on designated blankets (or a picnic table, if one is available) and the blankets are great for the guests to sit on to visit and eat with one another.

  • Serve ware is absolutely a part of your decor, and even more so for a picnic-themed bridal shower. Setting up an outdoor picnic at a local park or in a large backyard provides you with great scenery and allows you not to have to overdo it with the decorations. Therefore, let the plates and bowls do the talking! Mix and match patterns, colors, sizes and textures when it comes to setting out plates, bowls, cups and silverware. It will allow for a relaxed feel and great pictures!

  • Set out polaroid cameras at each blanket. This will allow the guests to have fun snapping pictures and will give the bride a great keepsake from the event!

By the pool, on your backyard patio, under the trees, at a park – no matter where you choose to host your garden party, it'll be spectacular!

  • 3-Course Meal – Come up with a theme for your food, perhaps a Tuscan feast or an Italian-themed menu. Then write down the menu on a large framed chalkboard sign to add some decor.

  • Dessert Table – Macaroons, cupcakes, cake balls, chocolate covered strawberries, petit fours, mini cakes! The brightly-decorated treats will allow this table to be a decoration in itself.

  • Tea – There's nothing like sipping fresh iced tea outdoors on a beautiful day.

  • Pre-set your tables and pull out all the stops! I'm talking: chargers, dessert forks, place cards, napkin rings. Your guests will be sure to ooh and ahh over your table setting.

  • Two words: flower crowns. Either make or have pre-made flower crowns for your guests. It will go with the theme so well and the guests will love them!

  • Flowers, flowers everywhere! Put them in vases, place them in clear bottles, put one flower on every place setting. You can't have a garden party without flowers!
